Canton

East of Fell’s Point on Baltimore’s outer harbor is Canton, a charming waterfront neighborhood founded in the late 19th century. A quaint village square rimmed with restaurants, pubs and shops along O’Donnell Street, the heart of this neighborhood. But wander off Canton Square to the surrounding blocks and find treasures, from the nearly-lost Baltimore art form of the painted screen to window shrines and rows of classic marble stoops on traditional Baltimore brick and form stone rowhouses. Canton is buffered by Patterson Park, once the country’s largest urban park, and Canton Waterfront Park.

Attractions

The neighborhood includes a waterfront path over a mile long, two marinas and a public boat launch, in addition to DuBurns Arena and many popular and homey restaurants. The community's main attraction is The Canton Square; its host of watering holes create a dynamic social hub for locals to enjoy any day of the week. The newly-constructed Shops at Canton Crossing give residents everything they need, including Chick-Fil-A, Atwater's, Target, Old Navy and Baltimore's most popular grocery store, Harris Teeter. Check out all of the options here!

Culture

Hundreds of Baltimoreans flock to Canton Waterfront Park in the spring and summer months for "First Thursdays," which is a free concert series where people from all walks of life come together for great a night of live music and local eats and craft beer. Canton is a place for foodies, dog lovers, yogis, and those who want to continue to experience city life without the hustle and bustle.

Locals Say

Canton is like a small town, plucked out of the middle of suburbia and dropped into a city. The neighborhood has a real sense of itself, and a real sense of community. We have a lively square and tons of corner bars. Plus, we have a waterfront for kayaking and a huge park for outdoor concerts. Canton has a local field for rec league sports, a Merritt Health Club, and an active political presence.
